The pixometer app allows users to accurately capture their meter readings by simply scanning the meter with their mobile device's camera, mirroring the ease of scanning a barcode. The application provides auditory feedback by reading the capture aloud, enhancing usability.

Users can create a free account on the pixometer portal (https://pixometer.io/portal/) to customize sample meters and synchronize data across multiple devices. This feature enables precise matching of readings to actual meters and facilitates comprehensive record-keeping, including date, time, and photographic proof of each reading. Sharing an account within a household promotes collective participation in monitoring energy usage.

Regular use of the app to scan meter readings fosters a better understanding of household energy patterns. Additionally, the app functions as a tool for capturing meter readings during tariff changes or when proof of consumption is required for other purposes.

The pixometer app supports various meter types, including mechanical counters (single and dual tariff) and digital LCD displays. If automatic image capture does not activate during scanning, users can manually tap the capture button to take a photo and enter the reading. The app's algorithms learn from all anonymized saved images, enhancing recognition accuracy in subsequent updates.
